The Computer Control Cabinet contains the Single Board Computer (SBC) and the Input/Output
Printed Circuit Board (I/O OCB). The main system software is located in ROM on the SBC. The SBC communicates with the rest of the Gammacell Irradiator and voltage shifting for all
hardware inputs and outputs. The card also provides two 5-volt DC regulators for operating
the SBC and the bar-code reader (scanner)/keyboard pair. A bi-directional RS232 communication port of the SBC is connected to the I/O PCB for translation to RS485 for
communicating with the Operator Interface module.

Another RS232 port (on the SBC) is used for communicating with the bar-code reader (scanner)and keyboard. The bar-code reader (scanner) and keyboard are connected together using "keyboard wedge" interface and standard PC keyboard connectors(PS/2 type-6 pin miniDIN). The keyboard/bar-code reader (scanner) data are interpreted and converted to RS232 standard (for the SBC) by a dedicated microprocessor on the I/O board.
